Expanded Product Description
This quarterly data service contains a major international compilation of energy prices at all market levels: import prices, industry prices and consumer prices. The statistics cover import costs of crude oil and main petroleum products in OECD countries. End-user prices and taxes for selected petroleum, natural gas and coal products as well as for electricity are also provided for industry, electricity generation and households for OECD countries. Full notes on sources, methods and a description of price mechanisms in each country are included. Time series availability varies with each data series. In general, end-user prices and taxes start in 1978, import costs in 1980 and spot prices in 1982. Two EXCEL files give the data availability by product and by country for the end-user prices. Certain feature articles are available in our archive of feature articles. This service is updated in January, April, July and October of each year.

Important Note: Due to reductions in our annual budget, the IEA no longer has adequate resources to provide complete information on energy prices and taxes so has had to suppress certain sections as of 1 January 2012. As a result, some price series were not updated in the 1st quarter 2012 edition and were discontinued completely in the 2nd quarter 2012 edition. The series concerned are natural gas and LNG import prices, coal import and export prices and end-use prices for all non-OECD countries. The IEA considered it necessary to reduce the coverage of our publication and on-line data service in order to maintain the high quality of the remaining information in Energy Prices and Taxes. We are hopeful that we may be able to restore these sections in the future if resources become available.
